How We Met - Jessica's Version

Ryan and I met at my sisters house at a young adults event. If you ask him he would say that I refused to tell him my name (not true) so for the whole night he referred to me as "Ashlea's sister". After he left he asked Ashlea and Braden for other names of my family. The next day he showed up at Ember's birthday party and said, "hi, Lenit's great-granddaughter." To say I was shocked is an understatement. He walked away and my dad goes, "You know that guy was flirting with you, right?" After that I of course had to tell one of my friends everything that happened and then called me sister after the party to ask if he was flirting. She told me he acts like that with everyone (also not true) and I may have been a little disappointed. Three months after we met Ryan asked me out on a date on New Years Eve. I was not ready for another relationship so I said no and that I needed some time. Then I was so stressed the next day thinking I had missed my chance forever. About three weeks after that he asked me how I was feeling about a date. I told him that I wanted to fast and pray about it for three days and then I would give him an answer. We decided we would get dinner on Sunday to break the fast. On Sunday he texted me asking if we were still on for dinner and talking about how hungry he was. I was superrr annoyed that he was saying he was hungry when I was the one that hadn't eaten in three days! I found out a few hours later that he had been fasting the last three days too. Any guy that will not eat for three days for you deserves at least one date. That was the start of our relationship and right from the beginning I felt God saying yes and saw His hand in our relationship.

How We Met - Ryan's Version

We met at a young adults group. I walked in in my sweet leather jacket that Jessica ended up not liking and made fun of. I couldn't stop thinking about her after that. The next day I was so excited to see her at Ember's birthday party. I knew I wanted to ask her out. I waited a few months for her to reach out to me because I knew she needed time. New Years Eve I finally asked her out. She said no. The next day I waited and that night she texted me saying she needed time. So I waited, prayed, fasted, and eventually she said yes. Eight months later we were engaged and now here we are, a year into it about to get married. It's crazy how it all happened, but even as I look back at it now I smile and see Gods hand at work in all of it. It was his perfect timing and I couldn't be more thankful for it (:
