After meeting online and discovering a common taste in music, we set a date to meet in person! Sara chose Val’s tacos because it was only a few blocks from home and if Grant turned out to be terrible, she could get home quickly. Luckily, that "safety net” was definitely not needed. Instead, we spent hours learning about each other over margaritas and tacos. Grant would say that he was smitten from the start and remembers returning home to tell his friends that the date “felt different… in a good way.” About a month of dates later, we made it official just in time to celebrate our first Mardi Gras together; a tradition that has quickly become one of our favorites. Over the next two years we have experienced so much together. Grant got the full New York experience and even got to try Ron’s Ice Cream! Sara took in the food and music at Jazzfest for the first time, and has been back each year since. Together we have travelled many miles to see friends, family, and dream destinations. We have also been so fortunate to share our home, New Orleans, with so many fun visitors. Almost exactly two years after our first date, and the day after Grant’s 30th birthday, we were engaged. Although a sudden stomach bug kept Sara in bed most of the day, Grant found a way to capture a brief moment on our porch that we will cherish forever. Sara rallied with excitement and we celebrated with our closest friends and family who love us so dearly. We are so excited to be married, and look forward to celebrating this with so many of our favorite people.
