Lauren said yes when I asked her to marry me on one knee on March 15th, 2024. What many people don't know is that that wasn't the first time I got on one knee for Lauren, hoping she would say yes. In 2015, during high school lunch hour, and in front of 500 students, my friends and I dressed up as gladiators and put on a spectacle for the ages. After defeating all my "enemies," I got on one knee and asked Princess Lauren to go to prom with me. She said yes then, too. There are a lot of things that happened between 2015 and 2024, so buckle in as we try to summarize it as best as we can. 1. We go to prom together 2. We started dating the summer before freshman year in college 3. We get in trouble with our parents for staying up past our bedtime late (4 am... fair) 4. Lauren goes to K-State (#GoCats), and David goes to KU (#RockChalk) 5. A wild 4 years go by that include date parties, exams, ups, downs, sadness, and joy 6. We graduate from college! 7. Lauren moves to Austin, TX, for her big girl job 8. David stays in Garden City, KS, and works as a pool boy/bartender/waiter for a couple of months 9. David visits Lauren in Austin, TX, every once in a while, and is sad every time he has to go back home 10. David (who is essentially unemployed at this point) helps Lauren move into her new apartment and doesn't ever go back to Garden City 11. David finds a job in Washington, DC, and moves there for 5 months 12. COVID 13. We go fully remote and move in together in Austin, TX! 14. We decide to live the digital nomad lifestyle, traveling around Central America 15. We move to Kansas City 16. Chiefs win a Super Bowl 17. We buy a house in Kansas City 18. We go on vacation to Guatemala 19. We get ready on the morning of March 15th, 2024, to go get "brunch" 20. David gets on one knee and asks Lauren to marry him 21. Lauren says yes
