There's heated debate among historians as to what really happened, but as the story goes, Annie and Rob first met on AIM or MySpace, and perhaps the truth lies somewhere in between. Rob remains convinced it was Annie's A/S/L that tipped him off that she was a year older, had her license, and was therefore in a position to pick his 16-year old self up and drive him places. Annie maintains that Rob approached her through MySpace due to mutual friends,...... Sixteen years ago, this led to Annie and Rob going on their first date to the finest of dining establishments, Pizza Hut. Their shared affinity for pizza should've made them look up that night, because if they had, they would has seen that destiny was written in the stars. Life went on and so did they, going off to college and embarking on their careers. With time waiting for no one, fate intervened 10 years later with their paths colliding in Margate over Labor Day Weekend in 2015. The girlfriend of Rob's best friend, Jeff, introduced Rob to her two friends, one of which was Annie. Rob instinctively responded with "Great to meet you!". Insulted and is if to say "did our Pizza Hut date mean nothing?!", Annie responded with "You asshole, we dated ten years ago! You don't remember me?". Shocked and looking like a deer in highlights, it hit Rob like a ton of bricks, and he started to hear Celine Dion's classic hit "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" playing in his head. After catching-up that night the two rekindled what they once had many moons ago, and in less than a year Annie was moving up to NYC and in with Rob. The rest, as they say, is history.
When Gabrielle and Dan suggested Annie and Rob join them in Newport, Rhode Island for a Labor Day Weekend getaway, Rob woke up in the middle of the night with the thought in his head that “this is it, I need to do this”. With the big day only about a couple of months away, Rob quickly devised a plan and set it in motion. He invited some friends down from Boston and coordinated how it would actually go down with his brother-in-law, who would be carrying the merchandise that would make its way onto Annie’s finger. It was a hot, beautiful day and we decided to go check out the Cliff Walk. With waves crashing below, Rob found the right spot and fully committed, getting down on one knee and asking Annie “Will you marry me?”. Annie immediately burst into tears, and through sobs, made Rob the happiest man alive by saying “of course!”.
