We’re Getting Married

Some love stories begin with fireworks, but ours began with shots at the bar, a little crush, and the kind of connection that feels easy from the start—a spark we didn’t fully understand at first. Back in 2016, we were just two young people who connected naturally, never imagining what the future had in store. Life eventually took us in different directions, as it often does. But they say if you love someone, let them go… and if it’s meant to be, they’ll return. Six years later, in 2022, that’s exactly what happened. God’s plan brought us back to each other during the same season we first met (and yes, at the bar again!). Seeing each other again felt easy and familiar; it was simple, gentle, and undeniable. It felt like coming home. From that day on, we’ve been inseparable. With all the time that passed in between, we returned to one another with a deeper, more intentional appreciation for what we have. We see now that those years apart were not lost, but were seasons of growth that prepared us to finally be who we needed to be for one another. Our dates, our travels, and our time with family have only brought us closer, confirming what we felt from the very beginning. Looking back, we realize now that our reunion was the answer to a prayer we didn't even know how to pray yet. Our love is patient. Our love is steady. It's the kind of love you protect-the kind that grows in the quiet, everyday moments: long drives, soft conversations, and trips that remind us the world feels right as long as we're side by side. And now, with full hearts and so much gratitude, we begin the rest of our forever-hand in hand, shots in hand, exactly as we were always meant to. 🤍 Algunas historias de amor comienzan con fuegos artificiales, pero la nuestra empezó con unos tequilas en la barra, un pequeño "crush" y esa conexión que se siente facilita desde el principio—una chispa que ni nosotros mismos entendíamos en ese entonces. Allá por el 2016, éramos solo dos jóvenes conectando de forma natural, sin imaginar lo que el futuro nos tenía preparado. Como pasa a veces, la vida nos llevó por caminos diferentes. Pero dicen que si amas a alguien, déjalo ir… y si es para ti, volverá. Seis años después, en el 2022, eso fue exactamente lo que pasó. El plan de Dios nos volvió a juntar en la misma temporada en que nos conocimos por primera vez (¡y sí, otra vez en la barra!). Vernos de nuevo se sintió natural y familiar; fue algo sencillo, tierno e innegable. Se sintió como llegar a casa. Desde ese día, no nos hemos separado. Con todo el tiempo que pasó, regresamos el uno al otro con un agradecimiento más profundo y sincero por lo que tenemos. Ahora entendemos que esos años separados no fueron tiempo perdido, sino etapas de crecimiento que nos prepararon para ser quienes necesitábamos ser el uno para el otro. Nuestras citas, nuestros viajes y el tiempo con la familia solo nos han unido más, confirmando lo que sentimos desde el primer día. Al mirar atrás, nos damos cuenta de que nuestro reencuentro fue la respuesta a una oración que aún no sabíamos cómo pedir. Nuestro amor es paciente. Nuestro amor es firme. Es de esos amores que se cuidan—del tipo que crece en los momentos tranquilos de cada día: en las manejadas largas, las pláticas agusto, las fiestas familiares y los viajes que nos recuerdan que el mundo está bien siempre y cuando estemos lado a lado. Y ahora, con el corazón lleno y muy agradecidos con Dios, comenzamos el resto de nuestro "para siempre" de la mano, con un brindis en alto, tal como siempre debió ser.

Her Moment: The moment felt surreal!! Straight out of a fairytale, We were walking toward the Quinta da Regaleira castle in Portugal knowing we were going to take photos but never expected this moment to happen! I remember turning around to see him on one knee. My heart raced and it completely took my breath away. I remember not knowing how to act that I started fake smacking him for keeping such a secret from me! He has always called me his princess, and in that moment..in a white dress in front of a castle!!! There was no other feeling than the feeling of a true princess. It was the most magical 'Yes' of my life. His Moment: I wanted our first international vacation to start with our engagement to fully enjoy our vacation as newly engaged”. Despite an 8-hour flight the day before, I knew December 10th was the day. I’d secretly coordinated with a photographer and her mom to make sure everything was perfect (including the dress!). Even though we were running late, the timing ended up being better than I could have planned. Standing there, I didn't need a script. I felt total peace knowing I was asking an 'imperfectly perfect' woman to be my wife. When she said yes and the crowd started cheering, I knew it was the best decision I’d ever made. El Momento de Ella ¡El momento se sintió irreal! Como sacado de un cuento de hadas. Estábamos caminando hacia el castillo Quinta da Regaleira en Portugal sabiendo que nos íbamos a tomar fotos, ¡pero nunca esperé que este momento pasara! Recuerdo que me di la vuelta para verlo a él hincado en una rodilla. Mi corazón se aceleró y me quitó el aliento por completo. ¡Recuerdo que no sabía ni cómo actuar que empecé a darle manotazos de broma por guardarme semejante secreto! Él siempre me ha llamado su princesa, y en ese momento... ¡con un vestido blanco frente a un castillo! No hubo otro sentimiento más que el de una verdadera princesa. Fue el "Sí" más mágico de mi vida. El Momento de Él: El Plan. Yo quería que nuestras primeras vacaciones internacionales empezaran con nuestro compromiso para disfrutar plenamente nuestras vacaciones como "recién comprometidos". A pesar de un vuelo de 8 horas el día anterior, yo sabía que el 10 de Diciembre era el día. Me coordiné en secreto con una fotógrafa y con su mamá para asegurarme de que todo fuera perfecto (¡incluyendo el vestido!). Aunque se nos hizo tarde, el tiempo terminó siendo mejor de lo que pude haber planeado. Estando ahí, no necesité un guion. Sentí una paz total sabiendo que le estaba pidiendo a una mujer "imperfectamente perfecta" que fuera mi esposa. Cuando dijo que sí y la multitud empezó a celebrar, supe que era la mejor decisión que había tomado.
