Long story short - I was Preston's last-minute, blind date to Mountain Weekend in January 2017. And well, here we are!
Before I tell the story of our proposal, I feel like it would be foolish to leave out all of the fake proposals leading up to it. Now it was never a secret that I wanted to marry Farra, and it had sort of became a game where every 6 months or so, I would propose to her without a ring. Most of the time it was all in good fun, but in reality all I could imagine is the day that it would be for real. Flash forward to June of 2020 in the middle of the pandemic. Farra and I decided to take one of our few ventures out of the house, and we thought it would be fun to go ring shopping. Little did she know that I had plans to order her ring that day. Now, the plan was not simple, I had to get Farra’s input on the ring that she wanted, and then somehow convince her to leave while I actually purchased it. Thankfully, Farra never turns down an opportunity to go shopping, so she walked over to the mall while I picked out the exact ring and signed the paperwork. Okay, we have the ring, step one down. Now, the actual proposal. Knowing the type of person Farra is, I knew that I couldn’t plan anything too big or extravagant without giving the secret away. With this in mind, I told her that I had planned a trip for her, myself, and my parents to go to a winery near Wake Forest Gardens. Farra had no idea that she would be walking into one of the biggest surprises of her life, and I was sweating. As we walked through the gardens, I got a sense that Farra was catching on to there not being a trip to the winery, I had to act fast. My heart was racing and we finally reached our destination, a beautiful floral arch set perfectly in the center of the gardens. Here it was that I got down on one knee, looked at my wondrous soon-to-be fiancee and uttered the words I had been waiting years to say… (The End)
