How We Met: I was 16 and Jarrett was 17 when we met. I had been assigned to be his cheerleader for his senior year of football, and what started as a school spirit pairing quickly turned into something much more. We’ve been together ever since—through every chapter of life: high school, college, and now into adulthood. We were each other’s first loves, and we’ve grown up side by side, cheering each other on through every season and stage of life and we can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together. The Proposal: I thought we were just taking family pictures for Christmas cards—I even got to choose the location and I decided on Harkness Memorial Park. First, Samantha and I took a few photos, and then it was Jarrett’s turn. As we were posing, I turned away for a moment, and when I turned back around, he was down on one knee. It wasn’t over the top or flashy—just personal and perfect. I had a feeling something was happening, but Jarrett managed to throw me off just enough to actually surprise me in the end. It was a moment we’ll never forget.
