Kendall and Matt consider themselves high school sweethearts, having met in the summer of 2010, which was the summer after Kendall graduated from high school, and Matt was entering his senior year. They had plenty of the same friends, and knew of each other throughout their time at Athens High School in Troy, MI, but their paths never truly crossed until they were both invited to the same party one summer night at a friend's house, and by the end of the night, they had exchanged phone numbers. After both graduating from Western Michigan University, they moved home to live with their parents, until they decided to find an apartment together in 2017. After moving to another apartment a year later, they quickly realized they needed to save money, if they wanted to one day buy a house and build a future together. Enter: the Berkley house! Kendall and Matt were lucky enough to move into their friend Abbey's house in Berkley, MI, allowing them to start planning for the day they buy their own home together. In October 2020, Kendall and Matt went on a weekend getaway to Charlevoix, MI with their friends Maggie and Ryan, and Matt filled them in on his plan to propose that weekend. Kendall has always been the "planner" of the group, and she didn't plan anything for the day they arrived in Charlevoix, other than wanting a picture in front of the lighthouse on the pier, so she was completely surprised when Matt got down on one knee after they took their picture! The rest of the weekend was full of surprise celebrations for the couple's engagement, including the incredible surprise party that was thrown for them upon their arrival back home. Kendall and Matt both love a good glass of wine and being outdoors, so they figured what better place to get all of their friends and family together to celebrate their marriage than up north Michigan at a winery? They can't wait to see everyone on the dance floor at Aurora Cellars on June 4, 2022!
