May 2015 17 year old Mikie and Megan both downloaded Tinder as jokes, and it wasn’t long before they both “swiped right” on each other. Turns out, Mikie attended Mchenry High School where Megan’s mom and stepfather worked. Mikie had both Megan’s mom as a teacher and her stepfather as an Athletic Director/teacher. December 2015 Mikie is home in Illinois from Minot State for winter break. Mikie and Megan had drifted apart and stopped talking during the summer/fall. Mikie knew he wanted to hang out with Megan and start talking to her again, and they finally agreed to hang out for New Year's. It took one night for Mikie and Megan to realize they had a strong connection. They spent almost everyday of winter break together before Mikie had to go back to North Dakota for college. Megan was still a senior in high school, and they decided to keep in touch with each other and see what happens. March 2016 After months of daily FaceTime dates, texting, and snap-chatting. Megan traveled to Upper Iowa University to watch Mikie play baseball. It was here that Mikie and Megan first said I love you to each other. May 2016 On May 15th, 2016, Mikie finally asked Megan to be his girlfriend at a cubs game! They spent 2 weeks enjoying time together before a summer of long distance while Mikie played baseball in South Florida. July 2016 Megan flew to Florida to watch the end of Mikie’s baseball season. They created memories at the beach, Disney, and many ice cream trips. They spent everyday together in July and August. On August 19th Mikie and Megan said “see ya later” again for more long distance as Megan started college at Northern Illinois University and Mikie went back to Minot State University. January 2017 After a long and hard year of a mostly long distance relationship, Megan made the decision to transfer schools to Minot State University in North Dakota. Mikie and Megan both studied in the nursing program. 2017-2020 The final years of college coasted and Mikie would play baseball in the summer time often leading to more long-distance in their relationship. January 2020 Mikie graduated and passed his NCLEX and started as a nurse in the pediatric unit at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND April 2020 Mikie and Megan added a member to their family by welcoming a Black Labrador named Winnie into their home. January 2021 Megan graduated, passed her NCLEX and became a registered nurse in the Emergency Room at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. November 2021 Mikie and Megan took a trip to Gatlinburg, TN. Mikie proposed on November 18 on the Sky Bridge. July 23, 2023 Our Wedding! A lot of you have been here through our story and we appreciate every single one of you.
