We have known about each other for a long time since we both grew up in the same small town, lived 2 miles apart, and even had several friends in common. But due the age gap -- he was the cute senior when I was just getting braces on in 8th grade -- we never "officially" met until long after our Argyle Eagle days. It was in early 2018 at a concert in Dallas when a couple of our mutual friends (who also happen to be OG Argylians) introduced us thinking nothing of it. We enjoyed the show, stayed out too late with the band, and have been learning about each other ever since.

Like any good proposal that you want to share with your kids and grandkids, nothing went according to plan. I had been planning Kyle’s 30th birthday party for weeks. I had a table reserved, a band ready to go, and all of our friends and family invited. Little to my knowledge, Kyle had hijacked his own birthday party and made it a whole day to propose and celebrate our engagement. We started the afternoon at our favorite drink spot in Plano TX — Haywire (definitely recommend the jalapeno Moscow mule) and then we’re going to run to errands for our big trip to Dubai the next week. Instead of pulling up to Barnes and Noble as I had asked, he rolls up to a park and wants to go on a walk. Few things were running through my mind — 1. It was sprinkling, 2. I am in suede, heeled boots, 3. This is not what I wanted to do. He persisted and I reluctantly got out of the car. We begin to walk and walk, the rain is still coming down, and I am very grumpy…my language was less than classy. It was obvious that Kyle was getting annoyed but he persevered to the top of the hill that looked over the park. Under the refuge of the steel roof, Kyle bravely asked me to marry him and I, of course, said yes and proceed to cry out apologies for being such a pain the whole walk up. Thank God for his forgiving soul!
