Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Fly into LAX and drive up to Solvang. It is about a 3 hour drive, depending on traffic. FYI: Friday afternoon traffic up to Solvang can be substantial.

Santa Barbara Municipal Airport

Fly to Santa Barbara on several major airlines and drive up to Solvang. The drive to Solvang takes about 35 minutes.

Train

Pacific Surfliner

Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner runs from San Diego, through Los Angeles, and up to Santa Barbara. While the Santa Barbara station is centrally located, the Los Angeles stop for this train (Union Station) is 30 minutes to an hour and a half from LAX, depending on traffic, or an hour by light rail. Pros: You don't have to drive. Con: It's not convenient or close to LAX.

This train travels between Los Angeles and Seattle, stopping in San Francisco and Santa Barbara.
