It is hard to surprise Abby because she always seems to find out everything and anything when ANYONE is trying to plan something. Whether it is a gift, dinner, or event she always knows when something is up. I could finally surprise her with something and that something would be the proposal. I checked with my parents and the Turczyn's to see if they were open the same weekend to head to Houston for the proposal. Very thankful for the parents because they got in town early Friday so they were able to get decorations and set the stage on the terrace at our apartment for the big ask, which looked amazing. I kept the day as normal as possible. After we both finished work, I told Abby to get some nice clothes on and let's go to the cocktail bar down the road to get some drinks because we haven't been in town together for a while (I was traveling a lot for work and so was she) so she thought nothing of it. She put on a nice outfit and was excited to go. Once we were ready to go I told her to make a drink to have on the terrace, where our families were waiting for us. So we grabbed Cliff to go with us and headed down. On the way down I tried getting sentimental and say nice things to her and she looked at me like I was nuts and I'm pretty sure told me to shut up. Once we got to the door to go out to the terrace she hesitated because she saw the letters that spelled "Marry Me" on the ground. Once we got outside she saw our parents and immediately got emotional. I then got down on one knee and asked Abigail Ann Turczyn to marry me and for the first time in my life I was truly able to surprise her with something and couldn't be happier about it!!
