FAQs

Question

How do I get from the Quito airport to Otavalo? Is transportation provided?

Answer

We recommend using the private transportation service we’ve partnered with, which is now live and ready for booking (copy & Paste link) https://quitotourbus.com/en/ecuador-weddings/losbeyra Link can also be found in the Travel + Stay section of our wedding website. The drive from Quito to Otavalo is about an hour and a half, and this company is familiar with the route and has been a reliable option for our guests. While Ubers and taxis are also available, we highly suggest booking through this service for a smoother and more comfortable experience. If your travel plans are a little different—such as arriving earlier, spending extra time in Quito, or needing pick-up from somewhere other than the airport—the company is more than happy to accommodate custom routes. Just reach out to them directly to coordinate what works best for you! Please note that transportation to and from the airport (or your starting point) will be at your own expense. However, once you’re in Otavalo, we’ll be providing transportation for all wedding events on Friday and Saturday. Let us know if you have any questions and we’re so excited to celebrate with you soon!

Question

Should I bring cash?

Answer

Yes! It’s always a good idea to have some cash on hand, especially if you’re planning to buy souvenirs or shop at small local businesses that may not accept cards. Ecuador’s local currency is the U.S. dollar, so you won’t need to worry about exchanging money.

Question

Is there someone I can book for hair & makeup?

Answer

Yes! For anyone interested in booking hair and makeup services for the wedding day, please ‘copy & paste’ the link below to view pricing, service details, and the booking form. The stylist will be commuting to the hotel the morning of the wedding and can do your hair and makeup right in your hotel room. https://forms.gle/ken3vh2Lnsvi7GV26 If you’re interested, please fill out the form as soon as possible so we can get an accurate headcount and coordinate how many stylists to have available. Upon filing out the google forms, the styling team should reach out within 48 hours to confirm appointment time. Payment can be made in cash (USD) on the day of the service.

Question

When should I arrive & depart?

Answer

We recommend arriving by Thursday afternoon so you can get settled and join us for the Quito Welcome Tour on Friday morning. With the wedding on Saturday, a Thursday–Sunday stay hits the sweet spot for all the fun. That said, most flights head out early Sunday, and the reception has no official end time—so if you want to soak up every last dance, we suggest staying until Monday. No regrets, just memories (and maybe a mild hangover). 🥂

Question

What will the weather be like in Quito/ Otavalo?

Answer

July is actually one of the best times to visit! It falls during the dry season, so you can expect mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. In Quito, daytime temps usually hover around 65°F (18°C), but it cools off in the evenings to about 48°F (9°C)—so definitely bring a light jacket for when the sun goes down! Otavalo is just a touch warmer during the day, with highs around 68°F (20°C) and cooler nights near 51°F (11°C). Mornings tend to be bright and beautiful, though there’s always a chance of a light afternoon shower. Both cities are high up in the Andes, so the sun can be intense—don’t forget sunscreen! And since it gets chilly at night, pack a cozy layer or two to stay comfy throughout the weekend.

Question

Is transportation provided on the wedding day?

Answer

Yes! Shuttles will pick up all international guests staying at the hotel at 12:00 PM to take you to the church for the ceremony, followed by the reception at the Finca. Return shuttles back to the hotel will begin departing at 6:30 PM and will run every hour throughout the evening. Since lunch will be served later in the day, we recommend having a light bite beforehand to hold you over until the reception meal.

Question

Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The wedding ceremony will take place indoors at a Catholic church. Cocktail hour and the reception will be held outdoors under a tent. While the venue will be covered and heated, please note that the weather in the area averages around 55°F (13°C) in the evening, so we recommend bringing a warm layer to stay comfortable.
