What began as a push from a mutual friend, a sprinkle of skepticism and a romantic "eh why not" decision, turned into the last "first date" either of them would ever experience. Danielle was lying on the dentist's chair having Lyndsey Standart cleaning her teeth and telling her she knows a guy that "has no baby mamas" and just moved back from San Diego. Lyndsey said she had known Brent since middle school and showed Danielle a few pictures. Danielle informed Lyndsey that she can introdue Brent to her social media profile and if he was interested he could reach out. Shortly after leaving the office, Danielle received a message in her inbox and the witty banter began and hasn't stopped since. They had their first date at Pietro's in Lodi and both felt a unexpected familiarity towards one another and spark that lasted past the restaurant closing. Neither was keen on being set up, yet the cliche "it happens when you least expect it" couldn't be more true. They became enamored with spending time together and going on all kinds of adventures, and traveling to new places. Most importantly, they became each other's best friend.
It was a scorching day in the Valley and Brent and Danielle grabbed their rescue german sheperd mix, Kody, beach towels, day packs and headed for Lake Tahoe. It's one of their absolute favorite destinations. Danielle was completely clueless, because it was common for them to spontaneously pick up and leave for a day trip. They went to Kiva Beach, which is a dog beach in South Lake Tahoe and spent the majority of the morning chilling on the beach watching Kody fetch pinecones they would throw into the freezing lake. After a couple hours, Brent suggested they go exploring. So they packed up and headed down an unknown trail. They came across a side trail called Rainbow Trail and decided to explore further. Danielle noticed that Brent seemed more quiet than usual but thought nothing of it. The trail was a gorgeous secluded nature walk that had beautiful views of the mountains and not a soul on it. They came upon a small bridge over a rushing creek surrounded by pine trees and a perfect view of the snow capped peaks. As Danielle was finishing taking a video, she looked over a noticed the shiniest ring she had ever seen in Brent's hand. Everything seemed to stop as Brent spoke words from his heart to her. Still shocked, Danielle blurted "Are you serious right now??" to which Brent just smiled and she responded, "well, you actually have to ASK me the question so I have an answer to give you!" Brent smirked and asked her to marry him, to which he already knew the answer. YES. In the meantime Kody was just looking for squirrels to chase and hadn't the slightest idea what transpired. They luckily found a restaurant that was open during COVID and allowed dogs, so they had lunch and drinks and called their families.
