It was my Junior year at Western Carolina University and I was ready for a job. The whole "broke college student" thing that everyone had talked to me about was actually.....well, real. I had seen ads for a serving position at Kostas and decided I'd start by applying there. However, as I headed that direction, strolling through the small town of Dillsboro, I stumbled across a hole in the wall bbq joint; The Haywood Smokehouse. I figured I'd give it a shot...I mean what did I have to lose? So, I popped on in to the Smokehouse and marched my way up to the take out counter where Miss Sue stood. I asked if a serving position was available and she then proceeded to the kitchen, and returned with the boss man, aka Will. I was fully preparing myself for an interview when I saw him come out but instead, he looked up at me with a huge grin on his face and the "interview" I was anticipating went a little like this instead: "So, when can you start?". In the several years I worked with Will, there was always something in the way of us connecting as more than friends....either he had a girlfriend, or I had a boyfriend, or life was just chaotic and hectic. When Will and his girlfriend at the time had broken up, I was still dating however, Will was showing a lot of interest in me. I got the occasional flirtatious text or wink through the kitchen window whenever we were both on the clock. Eventually, I became single and those consistent trips to the walk-in to get whip cream or chocolate syrup, were only an excuse I would make to my coworkers......I was really just going to see him. The first night I decided to visit Will at his house, he built a fire outside. I remember sitting in rocking chairs, listening to Cody Johnson and rooting S'mores. Will stood up, grabbed my hand and asked me to slow dance with him. I couldn't have asked for a more sweet, wholesome, and romantic first kiss. This is when our love story began. I knew I liked bbq.......but I love it even more now for bringing me my husband. Now, years later, we have a beautiful son named Cove who is a precious product of our love for one another. Creating a family with Will, has been my greatest joy. God has blessed us immensely over the past four years and as we continue to navigate through life, we give Him all of the glory and honor. We are whole-heartedly ready to stand before each other, those we love and hold near to our hearts, and the good Lord above to be joined together in holy matrimony as Mr. and Mrs. Beasley.
