I met Jon for the first time at Old Chicago - a restaurant that dad and I frequently visited. Jon was my server and had a slight Australian accent and I thought he was super cute. I have an obsession with mushrooms on my pizza and Jon was the first server to actually give me extra mushrooms when I asked. It was the perfect pizza. After meeting Jon I kept making my dad be my wingman and take me to eat at Old Chicago. Sometimes he was there, sometimes he wasn't. Eventually I had to take matters into my own hands and find him on Instagram. I did find him, and followed him... and then immediately in a panic unfollowed him. He messaged me... "Wait, is this THE mushroom girl?" and the rest is history!

Having shortly moved to America, I took a job at one of my parents’ favorite restaurants to go to. It had only been a couple of weeks since I had started working, and I saw this stunning girl walk through the doors. Quickly, I gestured the young ladies at the front of the restaurant to seat her in my section, and I tried to act as cool and as smooth as humanly possible as they walked past. Once they sat down in my section, I caught my breath and stumbled towards their table. Krista ordered a pizza... but this wasn’t just any pizza, it was a pizza smothered in mushrooms and pepperoni. Krista went over how she doesn’t just want a couple of extra mushrooms, but a lot more. I think the ticket I sent back to the kitchen was 3 feet long with the term “+xtra mush” repeating itself for 90% of the ticket. I vaguely remember them having to chance the printer paper out shortly after the order went in. She was so happy when she got her pizza covered in mushrooms. When it came to paying, I lost her credit card. Making a fool of myself was a special skill I hold near and dear to my heart and I put it to full use that day. I wasn’t as suave as I had hoped and never got her phone number. I saw Krista come in one more time before she (eerily) found me on Instagram, and the first thing that came to my mind was “oh sweet baby Jesus, the mushroom girl just added me." Now we are getting married…
