It all started with a dance.... One night after dance rehearsals Jessica, an avid salsa dancer, went to her first ever bachata social at Cache with friends. At the same time, Tahsin was downtown hanging out with friends. They all eventually decided to go home except Tahsin. He, being the extrovert that he is, wasn’t ready to end his night. He browsed his phone and noticed a text, sent earlier that night, from his dance friends inviting him to join them at Cache. He still had energy to dance and decided to surprise them and make his way there. So, he got on the uptown F train and made his way to Cache. The DJ played bachata most of the night and then FINALLY played one salsa song. Jessica frantically searched for a partner to dance with but couldn't find anyone who knew how to dance Salsa well. Enter Tahsin. He arrived as the song was just beginning. He greeted his friend who responded "Tahsin! Dance!" and joined Tahsin and Jessica’s hands together. "Hi, I'm Tahsin! Wanna Dance?" he said. Jessica smiled and nodded as they began dancing. That night they connected on the dance floor to a Salsa Romantica song. (queue "Bailando" by Frankie Ruiz). That connection has grown deeper and stronger ever since the moment they joined hands… “Dejamos de ser dos, bailando” | "We became one on the dance floor"
On the evening of July 24th, Tahsin texts Jessica to invite her to a "pre-Nikkah photoshoot". Little did she know that he planned to propose on a quaint little beach they encountered during a day trip to Greenport, Long Island. At sunset on the shoreline of Towne Beach, Tahsin got down on one knee and asked Jessica to marry him. She, of course, said "Yes!" because who can say no to a proposal on the shoreline at sunset?! On August 9th, 2020 they had an intimate Nikkah ceremony surrounded by close family in the midst of a pandemic. They wore face masks as they pronounced their vows to each other in Arabic. That day marked the union of their lives and families. That evening they went to their apartment, greeted their beloved dog - Mambo, and began their life together. They've been married for two years and finally have the chance to celebrate their union with all of their loved ones!
