The couple met at a work happy hour event called Venture Cafe. Karlie spotted Josh from across the room and thought he was super cute so she figured she'd try to spark up a conversation. He was sitting at a table with about 5 other nerdy coworkers and there just happened to be one open seat. Karlie went up to the table and asked if she could join. She was met with blank stares, but they were glad they said yes because she turned out to be super fun. Josh and Karlie proceeded to flirt for the next 2 hours until he had to leave. Then came the moment that Josh had to muster up the courage to ask for her number. He was sweating and shaking, but he got the job done and they had their first date at a restaurant in Tower Grove. Before the evening was over, Karlie asked Josh to join her for a double date the very next weekend. Luckily, Josh said yes, even though he already had plans with the boys for fantasy football. He cancelled just to be with her and the rest was history. Just kidding, there were some bad vacations, Covid, and other bumps along the way, but this isn't a fairy tale. They are celebrating a relationship that has grown into a lifetime commitment.

Joshua planned a fun day with brunch and a movie and wanted to propose when they got home to be with Ozzie in their favorite place! He asked what the next fun thing was she wanted to do, and Karlie promptly responded with "Let's clean the basement!". Before he could convince her otherwise, she changed into her dingy work clothes. Meanwhile, he is turning down the AC because he is starting to sweat. He gets down on one knee in the living room with Ozzie sitting next to him and she sits at the dining table with her back to him. Karlie started to file her nails and jokingly told him "You never know when you're going to propose" to then turn around and see him down on one knee already. She started to laugh thinking he was joking with her, until she realized he had the ring in his hand. His nerves kicked in and everything he had planned to say went out the window. He barely got the words "Will you marry me?" out. He said he hadn't been that nervous since he asked for her number four years ago. They were so excited, they had to call their parents right away! They then went over to surprise Karlie's mom in person and Josh was still so frazzled from the nerves that he immediately told her "We're going to wait until Kam and Kasey get here next weekend to tell them in person". Their visit was supposed to be a surprise for Mama K's birthday, so there was a wide eyed pause and then a big laugh that he had just word vomited in his excitement. Karlie feels so lucky to marry someone who’s just that excited about marrying her!
