It was 2012 in the noisy hallways of Champlin Park High School where they first locked eyes (actually, it was probably sometime in middle school- but for the sake of the story, lets set the scene at the high school). Taylor knew right where Gavin gathered with his friends during passing time and developed a certain curiosity about him. There was a random fire drill one day, their eyes met through the crowd of classmates as they waited outside…. But nothing came of it. Until Taylor requested to tag along with a friend to a baseball game that Gavin happened to be playing in (coincidence? I think not). After the game, they innocently flirted, and their summer romance was ignited. It wasn’t long after that sunny June day that Taylor began to attend every single baseball game. There was one game in particular that forcefully set their romance in motion. Gavin’s sister Sarah, an old friend of Taylor’s, was visiting home from college and hanging out in the bleachers with Taylor. Sarah had promised to give Taylor a ride home after the game, but strategically and intentionally bailed so that Gavin was forced to (in the infamous blue Tahoe). It was due to that forced, one on one, awkward ride home that their lives were forever changed. From the second Gavin dropped Taylor off at home, they texted non stop day and night for the next 10 YEARS! (Haha ok not really… but REALLY!!) Those kids who fell in love back in 2012 have stuck by each others side through college, career changes, tragedies and celebrations, and everything in between. The last 10 years have continued to shape their lives into one, and grow their love more with each and every chapter they face together. Here's to the exciting chapters that lie ahead!
It was THE snowiest day of the year, and if you know anything about Taylor, you know she’ll avoid driving during a snowstorm at all costs. Gavin had managed to arrange plans for Taylor through Hannah (MOH), but the brewery they were headed to that day CANCELED their reservation due to the snowstorm. Gavin was acting strange when Taylor indicated there was a change of plans. He kept asking about alternate options and chalked it up to the fact that he had last minute Christmas presents to wrap, so he insisted she leave. Reluctantly, Taylor decided to meet at Hannah's mom's house for the evening. Upon leaving the apartment parking lot she was faced with white out conditions and just knew even if she made it there, she’d have to stay the night. Something told her she couldn’t turn around and head home so she made it just up the road to Target, called both Gavin (who sounded very distraught, thinking she was going to come back home immediately) and Hannah to let them know her plan. She then wandered around for about an hour (in hindsight, what he accomplished in one stressful hour was no small feat). Gavin texted her the ok to head back. She returned home and was met at the door by her kitty Chloe, who happened to be standing in the middle of an aisle of candles leading into their living room. The ambiance was overwhelming. The tears immediately started flowing as she sat there in the entryway, knowing this was it, the moment she’d been waiting for all this time. From the living room Gavin called over, “come here” and as she’s completely lost in this moment with tear filled eyes, frozen in her steps Taylor said, “my hands are full”. Gavin laughed and said “well just put the stuff down!” Around the corner there he was down on one knee. It was such an intimate and special moment that they will hold onto forever! Gavin knew how important it was for Taylor to be able to tell her immediate family all together, in person. The next day she was able to do just that.
