Paul: I met Christina in 2014. She was interning for one of my roommates, who was a pastor at the church. She and a handful of interns would end up at my house every week for a meeting. I remember having a few conversations and always thinking she was cute, but I kinda felt she was unattainable, so I never took a shot at asking her out. Christina: One of my first memories of Paul is accidentally walking into his bedroom while I was looking for the basement bathroom, and I came back upstairs where he was and asked, "is that your room?" and he said, "yeah" and I said, "cool room". I thought he was cool, but that's about it. Paul: Until I cut my hair. Christina: Well, I definitely really noticed you when you cut your hair. Paul: Okay, so I used to have really, really long hair. I decided to cut it off a few days before Easter 2017. I led worship that Sunday and after I was talking to one of our mutual friends who commented on how the haircut looked nice. Christina, who was standing next to us, turned to me and said, "you look really good" with an emphasis on the "really". I think honestly that's what gave me the courage to ask her out. Christina: But it wasn't until a few months after that. We kept running into each other at parties or church events at the beginning of May. I didn't think much of it, but I kept ending up in these conversations with Paul. Paul: I was trying to talk to you. Christina: But I didn't realize that at the time. Actually, when he asked me out, I was like, "what even is this?" So I told him I could meet up for 8am coffee before work, not knowing if it was a date. Paul: I was trying to keep it chill, but when she said 8am, I was like, "Dang! She's not messing around!" Luckily I love breakfast and mornings. Christina: I don't think it was an immediate thing for either of us - it took us a few dates. But when we started officially dating, it was over for both of us. Paul: I knew I was going to marry you the third day we were dating.
