Our Story

High School Sweethearts

Our story begins in the summer of 2022- two awkward teenagers, oblivious to the fact that they liked each other. Neither had ever had a boyfriend or girlfriend (insert anyone saying “aww”), but for some reason, they were drawn to one another. They say it all felt like a blur, but if they had to explain their story, this is it: Eva’s sister, Brooke, went to a youth volunteer cleaning day at church, where she met Josh. Thinking he would be a good match, she later told Eva, “I found someone for you to fall in love with.” Though she was joking, she must have had some sisterly intuition. Eva had been in youth group with Josh for about a year, but had never really noticed him until then. Out of curiosity, she started paying attention. They later realized they had been connected in many ways before ever really meeting, but it was all in the Lord’s perfect timing. Eva found herself looking for Josh at youth group and checking his social media, assuming he was out of her league. What she did not know was that Josh was doing the same thing. It became a silent crush on both sides. That summer at camp, they began seeking each other out, still too shy to talk. Over the next few weeks, they slowly got to know each other through double dates, which eventually led to their first one-on-one date. A planned picnic turned into Carrabba’s takeout and a movie night because of a thunderstorm- they watched the movie Masterminds, which may have doubled as a test of Josh’s humor... safe to say he passed. After that night, their excitement only grew into a steady, certain feeling that this was something lasting. When asked, “Why so young?” or “How were you so sure?” their answer is simple: when you know, you know. They remain deeply grateful that the Lord brought them together in His perfect timing. Over the next four years, they grew together- building relationships with each other’s families and friends, serving at church, attending school events, and learning balance in their relationship. Through every challenge, their love deepened as they kept God at the center. In time, they began considering the idea of getting married while Josh was still in college. The thought seemed perfect... well, not perfect, but completely worth it. In July 2025, Josh proposed during Eva’s family vacation at Holden Beach, the same place his dad had proposed to his mom. Through everything, they have remained best friends, constant support for one another, and full of joy together. They look forward to growing up side by side and spending a lifetime as best friends, praying that their relationship continues to glorify God and reflect His grace.
