Before Cedrick and Kaitlyn began dating, they each found themselves doing a "One-year Challange". The purpose of this challenge was to take an entire year off from dating and focus solely on their relationships with God. A few months into the challenge, Cedrick and Kaitlyn realized that they had feelings for each other. However, they had both already made a commitment to God, and they were going to keep it. Over the course of that year, they each grew closer to the Lord, and they also formed an incredible friendship, which would become the foundation of their relationship together. During this year, Cedrick and Kaitlyn went on a hiking trip to Camp Horizon with their friends Amy and Bethany. This trip was torture for both of them. The hike ended with an incredible view of the sunset from the top of a hill at Camp Horizon; however, they were not yet dating at this time. That meant they had to sit there, all un-romantic-like, in this otherwise very romantic situation. Fast-forward to April of 2018. Cedrick planned a date-weekend for the two of them. This weekend was to consist of a night visiting the Keeper of the Plains on Friday, a walk around Great Plains Nature Center on Saturday, and a trip back to the hill at Camp Horizon on Sunday. Cedrick knew that Kaitlyn would think that he was going to propose to her once they got back to the hill, so he made plans to do it a day earlier and surprise her. On April 20th, 2018, Cedrick and Kaitlyn made their way through the Great Plains Nature Center; Cedrick much more nervously than Kaitlyn. 10 minutes into the walk they turn off of the main path and onto one with lights wrapped around the tree branches hanging over their heads. Kaitlyn immediately knew what was happening. As they walked down the path they come across a side table, on it was Kaitlyn's Bible turned to 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, and an engagement ring. At this time Cedrick got down on one knee and asked Kaitlyn to be his wife . . . She said yes, and here we are.
