You must have heard the great news! We got married in Boston on December 8th. Boston is a city that is near and dear to our hearts as that’s where we met and lived for the first year and a half of dating. Since then we lived together in New York City for a year while Madison finished his graduate degree from NYU, we then moved to Seattle for a year and a half, and most recently we have lived in the Dallas area for nearly one year. Along the way we’ve made wonderful friends! We appreciate all of you and are so happy to have you in our lives. We know it’s a whirlwind keeping up with where we are heading or what decision we are making next. We went back and forth on what type of wedding we should have. In the end, we cancelled the big shindig scheduled in Oklahoma City next May and opted for our original plan: something small in the city where we fell in love. We hope to share and celebrate our next chapter with you all very soon! Love, Madison & Alex Alperin
The weekend festivities started on Thursday, December 7th. Madison’s brother and his family arrived by plane, Alex’s family arrived by train, and Madison’s sister and her family arrived by automobile. Thursday night was the first night of Hanukkah and both families spent time together eating pasta, opening presents and getting to know each other. The blessings were said and the candles were lit on the menorah. Friday was the BIG day. We started the morning off with a long walk in the park with our dogs, Vada and Tess. For lunch, Madison ordered delicious sandwiches and salads from Monica’s Mercato and Salumeria in the North End. While Alex started getting ready, Madison had lunch and drank bourbon with everyone that was able to join. Once everyone was all dressed up and ready to go we met with a photographer in the Public Gardens to take family photos. We then hopped on the T to head to city hall. The entire group squeezed into a cozy city hall room where we were going to get married. Soon after, the officiant began the ceremony and shared that people have been getting married at the Boston City Hall since 1663. We said the vows followed by “I Do’s” and officially became husband and wife!! After the ceremony the family went to a restaurant called Mooo…. in Boston’s Seaport area for a delicious dinner. We chose Mooo… because we went on a date to the same restaurant back when we both lived in Boston and remembered how great the food was. Alex’s brother, Cody, made a sentimental toast to kick things off. Dinner was amazing! Appetizers consisted of oysters, steak tartare, dumplings, crab cakes, and salads. Dinner was a mix of steak and lobster. For dessert everyone enjoyed a trio of sweets: chocolate mouse, fruit with a special yogurt, and Alex’s favorite, crème brûlée. It’s safe to say that Alex’s dad, Keith, favored the chocolate mousse (he had 4). The evening was a perfect end to such a long awaited day. Saturday started off with a great brunch at a restaurant called “Stillwater”. The chef/owner attended Oklahoma State University like Alex and named the restaurant after the town the university is located in. Madison’s parents, Bob and Ellen, both said some kind words and everyone devoured a fancy apple pop tart dish, followed by their choice of omelets, chicken and biscuits, a cajun shredded pork and tater tot dish, and others. After brunch everyone went back to the hotel to prepare for the next event, ice skating! The family walked to Frog Pond in the Boston Commons to lace up some skates and test their athleticism! It was a bit difficult at first, but soon everyone got the hang of it. Round and round they went. This spot was also special as we had an ice skating date or two at Frog Pond whenever we lived in Boston. The next stop on the schedule was the bar where we first met. We found each other through a dating app and met for the first time at a bar called “21st Amendment”. It was very neat to share the dark little bar where everything began. After grabbing a quick drink, the families trekked across the locks to Charlestown for dinner at the Blackmoor. This is the same walk we made many many times when we first started dating. Alex lived in Charlestown and Madison lived in the West End. Dinner was great, but after such a long day on top of a very long weekend it was noticeable that everyone was exhausted. After dinner, Alex’s dad shared his thoughts and.. that was it! Everyone said their goodbyes and all the planned events for the weekend were complete!
