How We Met

April 23, 2018

Our love story truly began in Planet Fitness of Hillsborough. Adrianna, stalked Ashley from the line of treadmills and told Nick that there was a cute, strawberry blonde haired girl, with glasses. For a few weeks, Nick wondered who exactly she was. On the other hand, Ashley had noticed Nick and had been checking him out from a far. As she told friends about how cute he was, she would refer to him as her "gym husband" (secretly of course)! One day soon after that, Nick began to pick up on his mom's hints. He saw Ashley in the stretching room, with a head of hair he wouldn't forget. Nick had placed his mat right next to Ashley just so he could sneak a look at her and say, "Can I put my mat here?". Ashley's face lit up red as she thought "OMG, my gym husband just talked to me". It had been a few weeks after that when Ashley decided to approach Nick. He had gone the day without headphones, and she thought, its now or never! She approached him near the weight machine and said "Hey, I'm Ashley! I felt like I should introduce myself since we workout at the same time every day!" Nick agreed that it was only necessary to introduce himself as well and initiate some small talk. The day after they first spoke - per usual - they both arrive at the gym around 5:45. Without hesitation, Nick approached Ashley and asked her out on a date! They went out to dinner, ironically the day after Ashley's birthday, where they spoke for about 4.5 hours! They even shared dessert...which is so on brand. From that night on, the rest is history!

The Proposal

October 23, 2020

We decided to take a trip to Nantucket in Oct., 2020! Whenever we travel we always make sure to take a historic walking tour of the city and I thought this would be a fun, unexpected way to propose to Ashley. I contacted the Historical Society to arrange a tour that ended at a house named, "Luv Ackually" - named after the iconic romantic comedy! I got permission from the home-owner to put a sign that said "Will you marry me?" on her lawn & hired a photographer to capture the moment as well! I was so excited and ready to propose! Unfortunately on the way to the island, I got an e-mail from the tour guide saying that she had potentially been exposed to COVID the prior day and didn’t want to risk exposing us. She sent me the PDF that she put together so I could lead the tour myself. My stomach sorta dropped because now I had to lead the tour, make sure I let the photographer know the time we’d get there, and propose. Nervous slightly now with my new role as Ashley's guide, I suggested that we take a walk when we got settled in our hotel. Unbeknownst to Ashley at the time, we walked a similar route that we’d take in a few days but ended at Brant Point light house instead. Fast forward two days - after we spent the day wandering around the shops and museums, we freshened up for our tour and then a nice dinner afterwards. As we showered, Ashley mentioned to me that Luke Combs had released the song “Forever After All” and played it on repeat as she always does! How ironic right? Once we set out, we passed the White Elephant Hotel, Brant Point Lighthouse, and some historic homes as we approached where I’d pop the question. As we approached the “Luv Ackually” home, I knew it was game time! I recited my lines from the tour, telling Ash that this last home was going to be one that had significance in our lives. I told her how much I loved her and how much she means to me and then popped the question! "Will you marry me?"....She said "Yes!", & they lived #happilyeverackerman!
