Let me tell you about an unexpected love story! It all began in high school. Jimmie and McKenzie met when they were 15 and 17, they were friends and Jimmie would often walk her to Mrs. Gore’s class! Now, this isn’t a high school romance so let’s fast forward four years! It’s spring 2018 and Jimmie is interning with Boone PD his senior year of college. He and some of the cops would come in to eat at the Peddler Steakhouse. McKenzie was working there as a hostess. One night Jimmie and the cops went to the peddler to eat. McKenzie was working and she could tell that one of the guys in the group was going to ask her out- she hoped it was Jimmie. The guys all rallied in the lobby after they paid and then Jimmie went back to the hostess station. He said to McKenzie “sooo are you still dating that one guy?” She said “nope are you still dating that one girl?” And Jimmie said “no! Would you mind if I got your number?” They went on their first date at Basils, McKenzie says it was the best first date she’s ever been on. He prayed and blessed their food & that’s when McKenzie knew Jimmie was the one. And the rest is history! Now on to the rest of the history.. Fast forward 4 more years, and tons of adventures later, they welcomed Baby Jimmie into the world! A gift they didn’t know that they needed, but is the best gift they could’ve gotten! Baby Jimmie of course postponed their engagement a year. But God had it planned, and His timing was absolutely perfect.

April 3rd, 2023 Jimmie proposed to McKenzie in Montana on a road they stumbled across 2 years prior when they were exploring. They fell in love with this place and named it their “spot”. McKenzie didn’t know at the time, but Jimmie knew that this is where he wanted to propose. They went to watch the sunrise, McKenzie had no idea what was about to come! She rolled out of the house with no make up on, and a sweat shirt. Though Jimmie dropped her many hints, she has mom brain so picked up on none of it! As they were leaving Jimmie looked at McKenzie with a huge smile on his face and said “today is going to be a good day”. McKenzie replied with “yea because you got up early!” They got to the spot, and sat in the car and watched the sunrise, then got out to take some pictures. The whole time Mckenzie was thinking “why the heck did he bring the speaker out here”. Jimmie played “Marry You” by Bruno Mars and the second it started playing McKenzie knew exactly what was happening. It was perfect! Followed by tears and a big yes, they are so excited. Well, that’s the story! Now let’s get married!
