San Pedro is full of great restaurants! Some of our favorites are: Gallo 71, La Nacional, Libertad, Pangea, Hotaru, La Americana Taqueria, Taqueria Orinoco, Cara de Vaca, Frida Chilaquiles, Señora Tanaka, La Gran Barra, Botanero Moritas, Los Hidalgos, Koli and Vasconcelos.
Chipinque is full of excellent hikes up San Pedro's famous cerro. We spent most weekends here enjoying the cooler weather, beautiful views over Monterrey, and the abundant wildlife. A must do while in Monterrey!
Parque Fundidora is the site of the original steel foundry, the lifeblood of industrial Monterrey. Today it is a beautiful park where the city has preserved much of the old equipment to create something of a living museum. Take a stroll around what made the Monterrey you see today possible!
Monterrey's Barrio Antiguo has many streets shutdown to car traffic full with restaurants, street vendors, and even live music. It is a great area to walk through during the day and get a taste of "old" Monterrey.
Santiago is a really charming little pueblo to the south of Monterrey. It is full of traditional architecture, beautiful views over the mountains, and in the main square there are vendors and shops selling local artesanias! We'd recommend the restaurants Las Palomas in the center or Rincon Gamma Santiago which is a bit out of town overlooking the lake- great spots for brunch. Near town is the Cola de Caballo- a nice waterfall to visit.
