It all started back in high school, in the library of all places. I was buried in my studies, and David was gaming with the video game club. We started chatting during those afternoons, and before long, we realized we were both in the school choir. One thing led to another, and we shared our first dance as friends at homecoming—a memory I’ll always cherish. In January of 2020, we decided to take a chance on something more and started dating. Just as we were settling into our new relationship, the world turned upside down with COVID. Suddenly, we were long-distance, relying on video calls and heartfelt messages to keep our connection strong. It wasn’t easy, but every call reminded me how lucky I was to have him in my life. After three years together, I moved away for college, and we have faced two more years of long distance. Despite the challenges, we made it work, savoring every visit and counting down the days until we could be together again. On our four-year anniversary, while I was home on break, David surprised me with a proposal. It was perfect, a promise of forever after all the ups and downs we’d navigated. Now, as we prepare to start this next chapter, I can’t help but smile thinking about how far we’ve come—from the library to the alter.
