Swamp Rabbit Trail is one of the most popular outdoor attractions in the Greenville area — a scenic multi-use greenway that stretches nearly 20–28 miles through Greenville County, South Carolina. Built along a former railroad corridor, the paved trail connects downtown Greenville. It’s widely used for biking, walking, running, rollerblading, and casual sightseeing. Some of the most iconic sections pass through: Falls Park — home to waterfalls and gardens in downtown Greenville Liberty Bridge — the famous pedestrian suspension bridge over the Reedy River Unity Park — a newer community park directly connected to the trail (From the Embassy Suites, our host hotel, Falls Park and the Liberty Bridge are a 5 minute walk, and Unity Park is a 15 minute walk) The trail is known for being beginner-friendly, mostly flat, family-friendly, and highly social, with plenty of food stops and brewery patios along the route.
Paris Mountain State Park is a 1,500+ acre mountain park located just a few minutes north of downtown Greenville, South Carolina. Known as Greenville’s outdoor playground, the park offers hiking trails, mountain biking, fishing, kayaking, swimming, camping, and scenic forest views — all surprisingly close to the city. The mountain rises above 2,000 feet and feels much more like a Blue Ridge Mountain escape than an urban park. The park is especially popular for: Hiking trails like Sulphur Springs Trail and Brissy Ridge Mountain biking through wooded terrain Lake Placid for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boats Rustic CCC-era cabins and campgrounds Quick access from downtown Greenville and the Swamp Rabbit Trail area Locals often pair a morning at Paris Mountain State Park with time downtown at Falls Park or biking around Unity Park. It’s considered one of the defining outdoor destinations of the Greenville area and can get very busy on weekends with good weather.
Caesars Head State Park is a dramatic mountain state park located about 45 minutes northwest of Greenville in the Blue Ridge Escarpment region of South Carolina. Known for its breathtaking overlooks, rugged hiking trails, waterfalls, and mountain scenery, the park sits more than 3,200 feet above sea level and is part of the protected Mountain Bridge Wilderness Area. The park is especially famous for: The iconic Caesars Head overlook with panoramic Blue Ridge Mountain views Raven Cliff Falls, one of South Carolina’s tallest waterfalls Advanced hiking trails through deep forest and mountain terrain Hawk migration viewing in the fall Scenic drives along Highway 276 toward Brevard, North Carolina Compared to Paris Mountain, Caesars Head feels much more remote and rugged — more of a true mountain wilderness experience. Many visitors pair it with nearby stops like Bald Rock, Pretty Place Chapel, Jones Gap State Park, or Brevard, NC for a full-day mountain trip.
