our love story

from jackson floyd

Cameron and I met at orientation for Pine Cove Silverado in Columbus, Texas in the summer of 2021. Towards the end of orientation, we had staff picture day where everyone was taking pictures in their opening day uniform. I did not know who Cameron was, but I saw some girls trying to take a picture jumping in the air, and I decided to photobomb them. I did not think anything of it until I got a random DM on Instagram from some girl named Cameron Grogan who sent the picture I had photobombed. Luckily, the next night, both of us were selected for an “anti-hazing” talk in regards to frats and sororities. To this day, I do not know why I was selected because I have never even thought about joining a frat, but I got to talk to Cameron the whole time. The next day Cameron DM’d me again asking if I knew how to jump a car and I thought, “This girl definitely likes me.” Although the car was deader than a doornail and I looked like an idiot who did not know how to jump a car, I got a chance to flirt with Cameron one more time before leaving camp. Cameron worked the first half of the summer and I worked the second half, so we only talked briefly on the weekends. While at camp, I suggested that we needed to hangout before going back to school at Texas A&M and Samford. Flash forward to after camp, I was very nervous, but I invited Cameron to go to Six Flags with me. We spent the whole day together and it was so amazing, I had to see her again. I asked her on a date the next night to get sushi. We got dressed up, got sushi, and I even let her drive my car to “Asian town” to get boba, which was a big thing for her. She will tell you that it was not a date, but it totally was. After this, we went back to school and were far apart, but I could not get enough of her. We called or facetimed just about every single day, and got to know eachother more. When I eventually built up the courage to tell Cameron I liked her, she turned me down. I have no idea why I did not give up right then and there, but I decided she was wrong and did in fact like me, so we kept talking like nothing had happened. One night, Cameron said she had an extra ticket to a Thomas Rhett concert and said I should come to Birmingham. Not considering the fact that she could be joking, I booked a plane ticket and a hotel room. Again, why I did this, I do not know, but it could not have been better. We had a great weekend together, and I asked her to officially be my girlfriend on October 2, 2021. Our relationship was going great, and I was proud to admit that I was very much in love with Cameron, but we had a daunting task ahead of us. In January of 2022, Cameron left to study abroad in London for the entire spring semester. As if long distance was not hard enough in two different states, two different continents and a six hour time difference was a whole new ballgame. I would be lying if I said it was not hard to get through that semester, but we did it! Cameron and I would set up facetime dates where she would be eating dinner while I was eating lunch, and we would just talk for hours. I was blessed with the opportunity to go to London and visit Cameron for a long weekend, which still holds some of our favorite memories. After a long and hard semester apart, we made it through and spent that next summer back at Pine Cove Silverado. We eventually went back to college where we spent another school year flying back and forth on weekends to see eachother and making amazing memories. During the spring semester of 2023, I knew for a fact that I wanted to marry Cameron, so we went ring shopping. Cameron figured I would propose to her sometime that next fall but did not know when. I was fortunate enough to be able to go to Hawaii that summer of 2023 with the Grogan family where I got the opportunity to surprise Cameron with a proposal. She was not expecting it at all, but it was the perfect trip where we got to celebrate our engagement.

a letter to our guests

Cameron and I (mostly Cameron) have spent the past year since the engagement planning and preparing for our wedding, which will be in almost the exact same spot where I proposed in Hawaii. Looking back on our relationship, I realize what a crazy ride it has been. One thing I cannot help but recognize is the Lord’s hand in all of it. The moment I knew I wanted to marry Cameron was actually when we were not with eachother in person. I was at church and my pastor said that a spouse should be the person that you can get together with and run as fast as you can after Jesus together. I knew without a doubt that that person was Cameron Grogan. There have been so many things that should not have happened, but I know that the reason they did was to bring Cameron and I together. The Lord has been so faithful throughout our entire relationship, and I cannot wait to see the ways he continues to work throughout our future. We recognize that we both would not be where we are today without the prayers and encouragement of all of you, and we have been beyond blessed with who the Lord has placed in our lives. We are so grateful for the impact each one of you have had on us, and we cannot wait to celebrate the start of our new life together with all of you!
