UPDATE as of June 3rd: Much to our dismay, Covid is once again on the rise LA and Santa Barbara Counties. We would like to do what we can to keep you and all of our loved ones healthy, so we are asking everyone to take an at-home rapid covid test before traveling to or attending our reception. This may look different depending if you're local, traveling from afar, or have recently been to another large gathering. If you're traveling by public transit to the area 2-3 days before the 8th, we'd really appreciate one rapid test upon arrival and a second the day of the party. If within the week leading up to the reception you recently attended a different large gathering (concert, wedding, etc.), or just returned from traveling elsewhere, we'd also really appreciate if you took a rapid test 3 days before the event and a second the day of as well. For those of you who are more local, who have not attended gatherings or recently traveled, or traveled from afar and arrive on Friday 7/8, we think one at-home test the day of should suffice. We know this isn't a perfect system, but feel it is a necessary request given the circumstances and those in attendance (some will be at higher risk from age and other conditions). Though we will be disappointed we can't celebrate with you, please do not attend the reception should you feel sick or test positive for covid. If you traveled from out of town and fall ill or test positive for covid before the party, we will arrange for food to be delivered to where you are staying - so please get in touch with us if that happens. Hopefully, though, this will not be the case for anyone! Being conscious of your exposure and using PPE in the week or two leading up to the reception will make those scenarios much less likely - and we really really want to see you all! We will have extra tests at the venue if anyone wasn't able to test prior to arriving (though we strongly suggest doing so). For access to at-home rapid tests before 7/8, USPS is still shipping at-home covid test kits for free. A single household can now have placed up to 3 separate orders - visit this website to place your request: https://special.usps.com/testkits You can also purchase tests online or in-person from pharmacies like Walgreens, CVS, etc. Some health insurances are covering the cost partially or in-full, so be sure to see if you're eligible to reduce the financial burden as well. We truly appreciate your patience, flexibility, and thoughtfulness for our friends' and families' health and safety during our long-awaited celebration! ---- David and Lizzie got engaged during a snow shoeing trip to Mt. Pinos in January 2019. They had planned a ceremony and reception in Santa Barbara for October 2020. It was going to be an early fall outdoor gathering, not too far from where they lived at the time. But, everyone knows how 2020 went. They ended up postponing in April, and although disappointed, they knew they'd be able to celebrate with family and friends eventually. By July there was still no end in sight and Lizzie and David decided they didn't want to wait to make their lifelong commitments to one another in the company of their closest family. With love and support from their families and friends, Lizzie and David booked an Airbnb near Santa Cruz and held a small ceremony in early August. David's dad, Tom, became ordained and officiated their intimate ceremony, surrounded by coastal redwoods on the cabin's property. They said "I do" to one another in front of their parents, sisters, and Lizzie's nephew. Following their nuptials, family photos at the cabin, and couple portraits at Henry Cowell Redwood State Park, they celebrated the rest of the day with a barbeque on the patio. A secluded place tucked away in the trees was the perfect way to appreciate what mattered most in those moments and recognize the privilege they had to be able to so.
