Nuestra historia comenzó en la iglesia, donde nuestros caminos se cruzaron a través de una amistad que con el tiempo crecería en algo mucho más grande. Las hermanas de Eric ya eran algunas de mis mejores amigas, así que, de muchas maneras, ya formábamos parte de la vida del otro mucho antes de darnos cuenta de lo que Dios tenía preparado para nosotros. Al principio, nuestra relación era simplemente una amistad, una que yo valoraba profundamente. Con el tiempo comencé a ver lo amable, atento y considerado que es Eric. Pasábamos cada vez más tiempo juntos, compartiendo nuestra fe, disfrutando de la compañía del otro y descubriendo nuevos restaurantes. Sin darme cuenta, se había convertido en mi mejor amigo. Nuestra amistad comenzó en 2019 y, con el paso del tiempo, fue quedando claro que lo que teníamos era algo especial. Eric siempre fue paciente y muy intencional, y poco a poco mi corazón comenzó a reconocer lo que había estado allí todo el tiempo. Cuando finalmente comenzamos a salir en 2022, fue porque yo ya sabía que él era alguien con quien podía imaginar mi futuro y, algún día, casarme. Una de nuestras primeras citas fue en los Jardines Botánicos Japoneses. La estábamos pasando muy bien cuando, a mitad de la cita, su mamá lo llamó para preguntarle cómo iba todo… y si ya me había pedido que fuera su novia. Yo todavía no estaba lista para eso, pero es un recuerdo que hasta el día de hoy nos hace reír. Con el paso del tiempo hablábamos mucho sobre el futuro y sobre la vida que soñábamos construir juntos. Así que cuando finalmente llegó la propuesta, fue totalmente inesperada. El Día de Año Nuevo me dijeron que íbamos a volver a tomar las fotos familiares de Navidad de la familia de Eric en Lord’s Park, ya que algunos familiares no habían podido estar en las primeras. Como buena planificadora que soy, tenía muchas preguntas: a qué hora nos reuniríamos, si habría buena luz y si debía llevar mi trípode. Me aseguraron que todo ya estaba arreglado. Cuando llegamos al parque, tuvimos que estacionarnos en la calle y bajar con cuidado unos escalones cubiertos de nieve. Yo estaba tan concentrada en no resbalarme con los tacones que casi no levanté la mirada, agarrada del brazo de Eric todo el camino. Cuando llegamos abajo, noté unas velas a lo largo del camino. Al principio pensé que eran parte de la decoración del parque, pero poco a poco empecé a darme cuenta de lo que realmente estaba pasando. Allí, rodeados por la nieve y la luz de las velas, Eric comenzó a decirme cuánto me ama. Era exactamente como siempre lo había imaginado: un momento tranquilo y hermoso, solo para nosotros dos, con un fotógrafo capturando cada instante. Entonces se arrodilló, sacó el anillo más hermoso y me preguntó si quería casarme con él. Estaba completamente sorprendida y llena de alegría. Por supuesto, dije que sí. Y justo cuando pensaba que el momento no podía ser más perfecto, nuestras familias y amigos —que habían estado escondidos cerca todo el tiempo— salieron para celebrar con nosotros. La nieve, las velas y las personas que más amamos hicieron que todo se sintiera casi mágico, como sacado de un cuento de hadas. Desde una amistad que comenzó en 2019, a comenzar a salir en 2022, y ahora preparándonos para casarnos en 2026, estamos profundamente agradecidos por cada paso que nos trajo hasta aquí. Con Dios en el centro de nuestras vidas, estamos emocionados de comenzar este nuevo capítulo juntos y de construir un hogar lleno de fe, amor y alegría.

Our story began at church, where our paths crossed through a friendship that would grow into something much greater. Eric’s sisters were already some of my closest friends, so in many ways we had been part of each other’s lives long before we realized what God had in store for us. At first, our relationship was simply a friendship—one that I deeply valued. Over time, I began to see just how kind, thoughtful, and caring Eric was. We spent more and more time together, bonding over our faith, enjoying each other’s company, and discovering new restaurants together. Before long, he had become my best friend. Our friendship began in 2019, and as the years went on it became clear that what we had was something special. Eric was patient and intentional, and little by little my heart began to see what had been there all along. When we finally began dating in 2022, it was because I already knew that he was someone I could see myself marrying one day. One of our early dates was at the Japanese Botanical Gardens. We were having such a wonderful time when halfway through his mom called him to ask how the date was going—and whether he had already asked me to be his girlfriend. I wasn’t quite ready for that yet, but it’s a memory that still makes us laugh. As time passed, we often talked about the future and the life we hoped to build together. Yet when he proposed, I was completely taken by surprise. On New Year’s Day, I was told we were retaking Eric’s family Christmas pictures at Lord’s Park since some family members had missed the first one. Being the planner that I am, I had plenty of questions—what time we were meeting, whether the lighting would be good, and whether I should bring my tripod. I was assured everything was taken care of. When we arrived at the park, we had to park on the street and carefully make our way down snow-covered steps. I was so focused on not slipping in my heels that I barely looked up, holding onto Eric’s arm the entire way down. Once we reached the bottom, I noticed candles along the path. At first I assumed they were simply part of the park’s decorations, but in that moment it slowly began to dawn on me what was happening. There, surrounded by softly fallen snow and candlelight, Eric began telling me how much he loved me. It was exactly what I had always hoped for—a quiet, beautiful moment just the two of us, with a photographer capturing it all. Then he got down on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful ring, and asked me if I would marry him. I was completely surprised and overwhelmed with joy. Of course, I said yes. And just when I thought the moment couldn’t be more perfect, our family and friends—who had been hiding nearby the whole time—came out to celebrate with us. The snow, the candles, and the people we love most made the moment feel almost magical, like something out of a fairy tale. From a friendship that began in 2019, to dating in 2022, and now preparing for marriage in 2026, we are so grateful for every step that brought us here. With God at the center of our lives, we are excited to begin this new chapter together and build a home filled with faith, love, and laughter.
