The Bridal Dance is a cherished tradition in Czech and Slovak culture. As the bride is of Czech and Slovak heritage, sharing this tradition is deeply meaningful—especially in loving memory of her grandfather, Leonard, and the traditions he held close to his heart. Toward the end of the reception, guests are invited to line up to share a brief dance with the bride and place a small monetary gift into the bridal apron held by the Maid of Honor. These gifts symbolize blessings and good fortune for the couple. After each guest dances with the bride, they are offered a celebratory shot and a slice of cake. When the last guests—usually the bridal party—have danced with the bride, the groom must make his way through a circle of guests formed around her, symbolizing the trials they will face in marriage. Once he breaks through, he sweeps his bride away, marking the joyful beginning of their new life together.
