It All Started With Halloween and Pearl Jam

October 31, 2015

On All Hallow's Eve, 2015, Kat was invited to a Halloween party by her friend, Selina, who had briefly roomed with one of the hosts of the party. Kat was hesitant to go because she was an exhausted cat lady, who had already celebrated the evening prior, and did NOT have a great time. She dressed up like Eric Draven from The Crow, filled up her flask with Wild Turkey Bourbon, bracing herself for the night of awkwardness. Cut to THE DANCE. In walk Selina, her boyfriend, Dustin, and Kat to find a slightly inebriated Chris Morgan who was KILLIN' IT on the "dance floor" to *NSync with the entire party cheering him on. Kat pulled out her phone and started Snapchatting, naturally. Later that evening, one particular guest of Chris', we'll call him Joey... became a bit helpless, for lack of a better word. In swooped Kat to hold the guy up while several other drunk people fought over how to help. After the ordeal, Kat stayed behind and asked Chris if he had any Kate Bush on his iPod. Unfortunately, he did not. "What about Pearl Jam?" Kat inquired. "Oh, I definitely have Pearl Jam," Chris replied. They spent the next hour dancing and singing before it was time for Cinderella to leave the Ball. The day after the party, Kat looked for Chris on Facebook and, after adding and deleting several bald Chrises by mistake, found him. Chris asked Kat out for Taco Tuesday on November 10, 2015. A three hour date, discussing their upbringings in the South, ties to the Wildcats and Nashville culture, Pearl Jam and love for all-things-90s, turned into a nearly year-long waiting game while a skeptical Kat contemplated committing to a relationship after being single for over 2 years. But alas, on July 4, 2016, Chris and Kat officially became an item. It was only a couple weeks later that Kat said "I love you," (in Swedish), and life as a couple really took off. Cut to April 10, 2019: Chris pulled off the greatest proposal of all time, returning with the very dance that brought them together.
