Tori had two requests for the proposal: 1. She wanted it to be a total surprise. 2. She wanted it to happen somewhere meaningful. These two requests proved to be competing forces, but Austin was determined to pull this off, and he knew exactly where to do it. The only issue? The meaningful place Austin had in mind was 6 hours away in the remote Northwoods of Wisconsin, and Austin and Tori had no logical reason to be up at the beloved camp they both grew up going to. Enter: Aidan Merck and Hannah Johnson, brother of the groom-to-be and his girlfriend. Aidan also grew up going to HoneyRock Camp and wanted to show Hannah this special place, so he asked Austin and Tori if they wanted to join for a weekend trip to show Hannah around camp (knowing nothing yet of Austin's hopes to propose there). Austin and Tori eagerly agreed, and when Tori wasn't around, Austin looped Aidan and Hannah into his plans for the big surprise. The pair jumped at the opportunity to help with the proposal because — oh yeah — Aidan and Hannah just so happen to be professional photographers and videographers. In early August, the group loaded up the car and set off for HoneyRock. Unbeknownst to Tori, there were two large bins in the trunk of the car filled to the brim with candles, pillows, vases, camera equipment, and other gear. The next evening, after spending the day at camp, Austin took Tori to a suspiciously nice dinner for the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Fortunately, she was under the impression that Austin still didn't have the ring, so a proposal this weekend was out of the question in her mind. In fact, earlier in the day, Tori said, "Today has been a nearly perfect day," to which Austin replied, "Agreed! What would make it even better?" "If you proposed," she joked, knowing this was totally out of the question without the ring. After dinner, Tori and Austin agreed to meet Hannah and Aidan by the bridge on camp. Just as Austin had hoped, it wasn't until the moment that they walked up to the bridge and saw the scene that had been set that Tori realized what was going on. Tori patiently listened as Austin went on a long spiel about love. He got down on one knee, popped the question, and she said YES! The biggest surprise in the most meaningful place.
