Neither of us remember actually meeting the other, but we know we met at South Pointe High School (Go Stallions!), where West was a year ahead of Neely. There were a few dates way back then, but we didn't reconnect until after high school.
West reached out to Neely in 2018 which led to a first date at PW's in Rock Hill one weekend when they were both in town. He then came to NYC for a work trip that fall, which turned out to be the real beginning of the relationship. Since then, we have been long distance - flying back and forth from Virginia Beach to New York. Nine times out of 10 the flight is delayed or cancelled... But we've made it work!
West recently returned from deployment with plans to propose, but COVID was coming fast. He jumped on a plane to NYC and proposed on Friday the 13th of March, just before Stay-At-Home orders took affect and surprised Neely after her last day in the office. We got to spend one last Corona-free weekend together, celebrating our engagement before everything shut down. We're hoping our wedding will come at a time that we can celebrate and freely gather together again!
