We met online in 2018, via the dating app Hinge to be exact. After chatting a few days, we made plans to meet for lunch on a weekday. Jessica ordered kombucha for the first time – he looked like a kombucha kind of guy. Rob ordered a breakfast item (yes, for lunch). Jessica had taken the bus to the café, but Rob drove her back to work. She joked, "You love your car, but you don't even have a custom plate?!" Rob replied, "It's in the mail!" Over the next seven years, Jessica began to understand how much Rob loves the mail. After the lunch date went well, Jessica invited Rob to an art show in Fort Mason (free tickets from work). They had a blast looking at the exhibits and people watching. Conversation didn't become stagnant and there were many laughs to be shared. They both began to feel like this, whatever it was, could really be something...
Jessica didn't have any plans to move out of state – ever. That is until 2019. The Bay Area commute, bills and stress were adding up. After a weekend camping trip on the back side of Tahoe, she was ready to try something else. Rob had been ready to leave but delayed any moving plans to see where this new relationship would take him... In February 2020, Rob made plans to show Jessica the Asheville area. We found a cute cabin in the woods, for sale and for rent! The land lord said there would be no way to hold the cabin 'til May 2020, when Jessica's lease would expire. "If it's meant to be, it'll be," Jessica said to Rob over the sounds of a gurgling creek. In March 2020, the pandemic hit. As we all know, as a society, we didn't know what else to do but hunker down! In May, Rob called about the cabin – it was still available. We began to rent in June 2020, and eventually purchased in October 2021. Our little spot in North Carolina became a resort. We no longer felt the need to escape the city on camping trips, or use other... methods... of escapism. Our resort became home. Now, we'd like to shamelessly use our wedding to give incentive to our friends and family who have not yet visited us, and to those who want a reason to come back!
