Fate and a couple of right swipes in life led us to each other. I am fresh out of Radford and DeAngelo is a sophmore at Mars Hill. When we first met it was like we had known each other all along. We were long distance for about a year when DeAngelo transferred to Emory & Henry College and I started nursing school. And the rest is history.
We planned a trip to Emerald Isle, North Carolina. DeAngelo had never been to the beach so we were both so excited. Right when we got there he wanted to go take pictures on the beach. Everyone was taking turns doing couple pictures. It’s our turn and we snap a few. Then Sharon says, “Nicole, come here. Your lipstick is messed up.” While she is definitely not fixing my lipstick, I look at her and say, “I’m going to turn around and he’s going to be on one knee.” And sure enough, he was. I couldn’t even tell you what he said other than, “Will you marry me?” And without even skipping a beat I said, “Maybe.”
