Wes and Mikayla met junior year of high school. Mikayla pointed out Wes to her friend on the first day of school, asking "who is that cute guy?" Wes, on the other hand, thought Mikayla was a complete weirdo. They went on to have assigned seats next to each other in senior year AP calculus. Mikayla would ask Wes: "this is hard, do you understand this??" To which he would bluntly reply: "yes." Eventually, they learned they were both going to be attending UC Santa Barbara in the fall. By chance (or fate?), they were assigned dorm rooms down the hall from each other. Over the next two years they developed a group of mutual friends and became close friends themselves. When the idea of dating came up, Wes kept telling people: "I don't want a girlfriend." Mikayla kept telling people: "He's going to fall in love with me." And as usual, she was right! Over the last 11 years, Wes and Mikayla have supported each other unconditionally as they each grew-up and figured out who they are and what they wanted to do with their lives. They survived 4 years apart on opposite coasts before being reunited in Redondo Beach where they now live together with their two kids (cats), Udon and Miso. Having spent their first dating anniversary on a month-long trip to Indonesia, Wes and Mikayla have always loved exploring the world together. In May of 2024, Wes proposed in the dunes of the Sahara Desert in Morocco. Now, finally, they are ready to commit to a lifetime together. They can't wait to celebrate their love with you in July of 2026!
