Anand Karaj

10:30 am - 2:00 pm

Sikh Religious Society of Wisconsin
3675 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield, WI 53005

Modest Semi-Formal: As the ceremony requires sitting on the ground, we recommend comfortable semi-formal attire. Women may wear long dresses (no spaghetti straps or halter tops) with leggings or tunic tops with leggings, and men may wear dress pants with dress shirts.

Out of respect for the Sikh religion, it is asked that hair be covered (head coverings will be available). Upon entering the temple, there will be a room to the left where guests will set aside their shoes (cannot walk around the temple in shoes). Of note, the ceremony will require sitting floor level (on carpet), rather than chairs, for up to 3 hours. In Sikhism, this is a sign of equality and respect. We strongly encourage that you bring a cushion to sit on as this may help with comfort. Ensure you are wearing comfortable semi-formal attire (as noted above). Please reach out to Jasleen or Zak if you have any questions. If you are unable to attend due to these requirements, that is ok and we will see you at the 2nd ceremony and reception on Friday!
