Disneyland is a must for all out-of-towners! The new Star Wars Land will be opening at the beginning of summer, so even if you have been before, there will be new attractions to behold! We highly recommend the Blue Bayou (actually inside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) as a splurge for a nice meal, but Tortilla Joe's in downtown Disney is actually our favorite restaurant at Disneyland. The margaritas and salsa are memorable, but the Enchiladas Suizas are the real star. *We are planning to go to Disneyland on Sunday, so please let us know if you intend to be there then and we would love to meet up with each of you throughout the day!*
This is our favorite beach in Los Angeles and 15 minutes from our home! Parking can be a challenge, but the trade-off is a lovely, quiet beach that is far more enjoyable then the overly crowded Santa Monica or Malibu.
Temecula is definitely a trek, but has some of Southern California's best wines (at least in our opinion). We are members of the Weins Wine Club, and having tried most of the vineyards in Temecula, we can safely say that overall it offers the best wines. The highlights are the red wines and the Amour de L'Orange (our engagement and wedding celebratory champagne!). Lunch at Robert Renzoni is highly recommended and Miramonte has a great vineyard tour paired with wine tasting.
This restaurant is in downtown Los Angeles (so a little ways away from the venue), but is delicious and one of Los Angeles' most renowned restaurants. We highly recommend the Portobello fries, the trenne pasta, and the chocolate souffle for dinner (but you'll need to put that order in at the start of the meal). They do not take reservations, and an hour wait is not unusual for a weekend dinner, so we recommend going at an off-hour. This is where we went for our engagement dinner!
This is our favorite restaurant in Los Angeles! The food is incredible, but be prepared for a slightly out of the ordinary eating-experience! You cook your own food in Japanese hot pots. We recommend the beef and the sukiyaki (sweet) or shabu-shabu (savory) broth. If you're lucky, you might even catch Yojie herself as she often works at the restaurant and is such a sweetheart.
One of our favorite coffee shops in LA. This is where we picked up coffee for our first date and on our engagement day. If you go, the Spanish Latte is a must! Urth Caffe has several locations around Los Angeles, so look for the one closest to you!
"Bacaro" is the original restaurant, and they have since opened several more restaurants, called "Bacari" (plural for Bacaro in Italian). Bacaro is an Italian wine bar, but we enjoy the restaurant most for their brunch! It is a tapas-style restaurant, so there is lots to try. You can't go wrong with anything you order here.
