Our love story started at work, being only a few offices away from each other. We never knew much of each other as our paths didn't cross, however we had good friends that knew us both. They planted the seed that ended up blossoming into love for Nate and Thais. After multiple attempts of encouragement their friends got Nate to muster up enough courage to ask Thais out for a date. They assured him that they tested the waters and it was a "for sure thing"... Well it was not. Nate asked Thais out one day after work and to his surprise, Thais was not expecting the proposal - she left him hanging for a day before agreeing to a date. Nate was a little bit late for their first date, so he did not get a kiss at the end. But it was on that summer night, after a great conversation, laughter, food and drinks, that they both realized there was more they wanted to learn about each other. Another date, led to another date, and before they both knew it, they were on their way falling into love.

Thais and Nate have been in DC for several years. As they were dating, Nate learned that one of Thais' favorite spots was in Rock Creek Park. One day they walked there and stopped at a bridge to soak in some fresh air and Thais shared this was a place she loved. So as Nate was thinking about where to ask, this became the clear winner. With the help of some great friends the plans were set. The ring was ordered. It was time. Now, Thais was begging Nate to go to the beach the same weekend he had set for the proposal. So Nate gave a hint that he had a special picnic setup for them to enjoy the day and it would be worth it instead of going to the beach. The big day arrives, they wake up, hit the gym (Nate knew photos were coming) and got ready for an afternoon picnic. One of their great friends set up an entire picnic area with the proposal area saying “MARRY ME”, and rose petals everywhere. Music was playing. The scene was set. As Nate and Thais arrive and walk over the bridge, she slowly starts to see the rose petals and hear the music playing. Even with all that, it took Thais a while to figure out what was coming up - she thought Nate had just planned another romantic date. Until she saw some familiar faces coming together and a photographer capturing that moment. Nate dropped to a knee, and asked: “Você quer se casar comigo?”. She said….YES!
