Sarah's sister Anna came to Forest to take Sarah out for her 14th birthday to the Riverdale High School production of Arsenic and Old Lace. Christopher was the creepy villain in the play.
Christopher went to Ohio State Lima Campus. Sarah went to Rhodes State College. Those two colleges share a campus, and Chris and Sarah started running into each other. Sarah worked at the bookstore, where Christopher often came to buy supplies or snacks, and they often talked and laughed about mutual friends and acquaintances.
Sarah threw a Murder Mystery party for her friends to celebrate New Year's Eve, and invited Christopher. She was cast as a spy. He was cast as a sullen baseball player. The next day, Sarah sent Christopher a message thanking him for bringing cookies. They sent messages back and forth for 12 hours straight on New Year's Day.
Christopher and Sarah kept sending messages back and forth... for four months straight. They talked nearly every day, about everything and nothing. And both of them, in their own time, realized they wanted their friendship to turn into something more. Sarah realized it one evening when she had to go to a party she didn't want to go to. He kept tabs on her all evening and made sure she was okay. She realized he was willing to protect and help her, and she was swept off her feet. Chris realized it when Sarah came to him with a problem she wasn't sure how to fix. He realized he wanted to take care of her and protect her.
Christopher and Sarah finally decided to take a step forward. Their first date was on June 1st, 2017.
Christopher took Sarah on a day trip to Put-In-Bay Island for her birthday, and his grandparents came along to celebrate with them. On the way to the island ferry, they stopped at the Marblehead Lighthouse, where Christopher started leading Sarah over to a large flat rock by the water. Christopher's grandmother had a rose strategically hidden under her coat, which she slipped to Christopher behind Sarah's back. He slipped a note into the petals that said "For Who Could Ever Learn to Love a Beast?", a line from Beauty and the Beast, their favorite Disney movie. When Sarah turned back to Christopher, he dropped to one knee with a ring box in his hand, and asked her to marry him. Of course, she said yes!!
