While sitting in Boston Logan Airport awaiting her flight to Disney World, Tess received a notification on the dating app Hinge, that Will had liked her profile. Scrolling briefly through his profile, she noted his smile, barbershop quartet singing, and excellent answers to the prompts. Sending a like back, they began messaging consistently, exchanging music interests and videos, and discussing what furniture we'd be (Tess picked fireplace, he picked bookshelf). He became known as "Barbershop Guy" among Tess's friends before long. When it came time to set up a date, Will picked a place, (attempted to) make a reservation at the Black Salt Bistro in Swansea, Massachussetts, and decided on a time. Tess was quickly impressed with his ability to plan an actual date and not go "I don't know, what do you want to do?" to which Will eventually said "wow, the bar is so low." Before they even went on the date, Will shared that his sister Sarah was actually someone Tess had gone to college with and they had been great friends during their time at Stonehill together (cue "It's a Small World"). Suddenly, it didn't feel like they had met on an app anymore, but more like they had been set up. The Black Salt date lasted several hours, covering every topic we could possibly think of. We both ordered the braised short rib that was to die for, and found ourselves closing the place down. Fast forward 3 years later after 1.5 years of living together with the best black cat ever, Binx, Will proposed on our 3-year anniversary of our very first date.
