We first met through serving on dorm staff together in college! We quickly discovered we were both accounting majors, and became good friends as we studied for classes together. It was over a year of close friendship before Sam finally admitted he wanted to "move this friendship to a relationship," and the rest is history! We fell in love as we graduated college together, served at our church over the summer, and deepened our very sweet friendship. Our favorite things to do together: anything musical, cooking, spending time with our church friends, and just TALKING!

Sam flew up to Portland very early the morning of Tess' 21st birthday for a surprise proposal. Tess' sister distracted her with birthday morning brunch, and then casually suggested going for a walk toward a beautiful park and pergola area. As they walked closer, Tess saw Sam standing under the pergola with rose petals all around, and she was totally surprised! Obviously she said yes, and we were engaged!!
