Kaare and Tess met at the University of Washington. When they were the only people that showed up 20 minutes early to their first chemistry lab section, Tess made the bold (for her) decision to introduce herself. Kaare sat next to her and their friendship began.
Kaare and Tess went on their first accidental date when all of their friends backed out of a ski trip. At the end of a cold day of nervous flirtation, Tess blurted that she had feelings for Kaare. He admitted he felt the same. They’ve been together ever since.
Kaare asked Tess to marry him during a stroll through the flowers at the Cylburn Arboretum. He completely forgot the script he wrote in his head while on one knee. She said yes anyway. The next day, Tess asked Kaare to marry her at the Rawlings Conservatory. They realized upon arrival that there was a motorcycle club busily revving their engines right outside, and Tess cried the whole time she was on one knee. He said yes anyway.
After deciding to postpone the big wedding bash due to COVID-19, Tess and Kaare held a small ceremony in a garden in Baltimore with their parents and sisters in attendance. They look forward to celebrating with everyone on their one-year anniversary!
