Sam transferred to Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York (where Tess had been going since Kindergarten) for junior year of high school and they wish they could say the rest was history. However after meeting Sam in the lunch room and welcoming him to Hackley on his first day, they didn't speak again for their entire junior year. Come senior year in September 2012, the stars aligned and they had three classes together: Spanish, English and Ecology. After searching for leaves together in ecology class, Sam asked Tess to get grilled cheeses at the diner near the school, followed by asking her to see Frankenweenie, the new Tim Burton movie, that weekend. They've been inseparable ever since, and still quote the movie to each other to this day.
