Nathan plans a spring break trip every year and was excited to spend it with Tessa. His original plan was a cruise with some friends and would invite Tessa and her friends so that they would spend it together. She didn't have any friends to join her and dropped out of the cruise planning. Trying to think of a trip she'd want to go on, he mentioned one day that a road trip up highway 1 was on his bucket list and pitched how cool it would be to do it for spring break. Tessa quickly was on board. Flash forward to the trip, they got locked out of the campsite their first night in Sequoia National Forest, watched the sunset in Carmel-by-the-sea, saw the Golden Gate bridge, rode scooters in San Fransisco, got lost finding their campsite in the Redwood National Forest, visited the famous lighthouse from the movie "Need for Speed", saw sea lions in Florence, and ended their trip in Cannon Beach. Every hike they hiked and road they drove felt like it was just the two of them. They fell in love and it is always referred by both of them as "the L trip"
