We are planning to visit Breckenridge for some skiing and snowboarding on Friday, 12/5. The resort is about 1.5 hours from Golden. Everyone is welcome to join us! If you are planning to be in town early and want to meet us there, let us know!!
We live about 5 minutes from Olde Town Arvada and visit often, it is one of our favorite places near home! It is a couple of streets of shops and restaurants. If you are planning to eat there, we recommend Homegrown Tap & Dough, Schoolhouse Kitchen, and Lady Nomada.
The Mount Falcon castle trail is a casual hike with amazing views. There are a few trails from the parking lot.
Historic mountain town in the foothills with lots of museums, shops and restaurants. Plenty of hiking trails nearby if you visit the Gateway or Tunnel 1 trailhead. The trail along the clear creek is paved and perfect for a casual walk and passes by the Golden Hotel. If you are looking for something a bit more challenging, there are hiking trails that branch off of the paved path near the Gateway trailhead.
Downtown Denver has a lot to offer. You can find good food, and places and things to see. Our favorite areas in the city are Union Station and Larimer square. You can find great shops and restaurants in those neighborhoods. We recommend the art museum and civic center park. We also love watching the Colorado Avalanche (hockey) play at Ball Arena.
If you are looking to do a full day trip and don't mind a drive (about 1.5 hours). We love Rocky Mountain National Park. There are lots of hikes for a range of abilities. The town, Estes, right outside the park is a cute little mountain town with touristy shops and lots of restaurants. Being winter, definitely check the weather if you plan to go, you will have to drive on some winding mountain roads!
