Our Story

His Point of View vs. Her Point of View

His: We were in the same Comm 101 class that everybody has to take at some point at Mason, and after I gave this amazing speech and was leaving class, texting my friend and walking kinda slowly, Tess said “Good job on your speech” to me out of fear of me talking to her and catching her off guard. In my head I was like “Jokes on you, now I get to talk to you whenever I feel like it because you’ve shown interest in being my friend” but out loud I was like “Thanks”. I used my Statistics struggles as an excuse to get her to come spend time with me, and we started regularly hanging out and then WHAM-O. We stopped hanging out for like 3 days, but I still needed help with Statistics, but like, for real this time, so we started hanging out again and then she said I should ask her out so I was like DOUBLE-WHAM-O. Let’s eat grilled cheeses. And now we’re going to get married :) Hers: The first time I walked into Comm 101 there was this guy who was really loud and outgoing and I immediately decided that I was NEVER going to talk to him (even though he was really cute). A few weeks in I had gotten used to his booming voice and after his first presentation I was walking back to my dorm and I was in an awkward situation where if I walked any faster or if he walked any slower he would notice that I was behind him and I would be forced to talk to him. The only solution was to talk to him first, so I did. We got lunch a few times after that but I wasn't ready to be in a relationship and besides, I didn't know if he had the same spiritual beliefs as me and that has caused issues in past relationships. After some time of inviting him to join me in campus ministry and him figuring out his spiritual beliefs for himself, I pondered the idea of letting him take me on a date. He was really persistent about hanging out and eventually I let him ask me on a date. Four grill cheeses and two bowls of tomato soup later, he quickly became my best friend, boyfriend, fiancé and soon husband.
