Baker Park offers pickleball and tennis courts, plenty of green space, walking options, the historic bell tower and easy access to the Carroll Creek Linear Park for the best way to walk through some of the must see spots in Frederick!
Carroll Creek Park is a 1.5 mile-long linear park that runs through the historic district of Frederick, MD. It features public art, fountains, water gardens, live music, festivals, and restaurants and breweries along the creek.
If you're looking for a good breakfast or brunch to kick-start the day, try Cafe Nola right off of downtown Frederick’s “square” where Market Street and Patrick Street meet. Settle into the outside seating area and relax in the warm sunshine while sipping on an Irish Coffee or beautifully presented latte. And because you’re in Maryland, you know a standard eggs benedict isn’t going to cut it; at Nolas, they slap a crab cake on it. An alternate spot for a great local coffee stop is Frederick Coffee Company located at 100 North East Street.
It was hard for us to choose just one brewery to include so we chose one that is centrally located so you can visit several in one trip! Each offers several beers, ciders and sours and usually has food truck offerings as well. Within a stroll of Attaboy, also check out RAK Brewery, Idiom, and Steinhardt. Attaboy and RAK are in the same building and Idiom and Steinhardt are as well. Outdoor seating at each makes it a great stop on a sunny afternoon. Idiom and Steinhardt are situated along Carroll Creek and RAK and Attaboy are next to McCutcheon's, a Frederick staple with yummy homemade jams, jellies and fruit butters!
Are you a fan of Top Chef? If so, you may want to put this newest addition to Frederick’s rightly renowned gourmet landscape on you "must do" list. Wye Oak, helmed by acclaimed celebrity Executive Chef Bryan Voltaggio, is a distinctive locavore restaurant where the ever-evolving menu is inspired by the season, landscape and bounty of the region. At the very least, swing into the bar. The tavern and hotel are at the site of a historic church and private school in Frederick and the idea of housing the bar where the alter is partially preserved has raised some eyebrows!
Just like the breweries, choosing just one restaurant recommendation is impossible! This time, we went with Uncle Jeff's favorite since it's not one you will find on your walk through town unless you know where to look and it is well worth your stop. The White Rabbit is Downtown Frederick's first and only craft beer house & gastropub featuring 42 rotating taps of beer, cider and wine, also fine spirits and craft cocktails. Dine on award-winning Detroit-style pizza and other world-class pub fare, all in the comfort of a speakeasy location with the ambiance of a 7th generation hatter's estate. Some other favorites in downtown include Bushwaller's, Tasting Room, Hooch and Banter, Shuckin Shack, The Wine Kitchen, Cucina Massi and Jojo's Taphouse or Pissarro's. Honestly, just walk down Patrick Street and Market Street and you will find something you'll love!
